Cary R. Rosenthal started
his career litigating business matters including contract
claims, shareholder disputes, and various types of fraud litigation.
As he acquired tax skills he transferred his advocacy skills
to representation before the Internal Revenue Service and
the Illinois Department of Revenue. Over the years he noticed
that while he could add great value getting clients out of
their predicaments with each other, and with the taxing authorities,
he could add even greater value helping clients avoid such
degenerations of their affairs.
Mr. Rosenthal provides outstanding representation in courts
and before taxing authorities and will continue to provide
these services because it helps to keep them on the cutting
edge of taxation and asset protection concepts. But the greater
value resides in planning, and avoiding problems.
Mr. Rosenthal is dedicated to help clients avoid the perils
of lawsuits, income taxation, and transfer taxes using:
1. All forms of entities, and multiple entities, to maximize
the benefits and minimize the downsides of using each;
2. All forms of trusts, and advanced variations, including
A – B Trusts, Charitable Remainder Trusts, OBRA ’93 and Special
Needs Trusts; Irrevocable Insurance Trusts, Intentionally
Defective Trusts, Gift Trusts, Dynasty Trusts, and other trusts
as needs may arise;
3. Creating Family Business Counsels, Outside Boards of Directors,
Buy-Sell Arrangements, Employee Stock Ownership Plans, and
other vehicles for ensuring that a family business, often
a family’s largest asset, succeeds to the next generation;
4. Comprehensive tax planning;
5. Probate and guardianship representation;
6. Bankruptcy, other insolvency vehicles, and litigation
as a last resort.
Mr. Rosenthal takes great pride in his ability to work as
part of a team of other professionals and trusted advisors
to achieve the clients’ goals.
